I Want To Rub Acid On Your Face!
Yep, you really read that right.
Chemical peels are a highly effective deep exfoliation designed to even out fine wrinkles, uneven or hyperpigmentation, and can smooth out rough, dry skin. It is also highly effective in treating acne as it desolves sebum and keratin.
Peels are designed to remove the outer layers of the skin so that new, regenerated skin replaces the old. They are applied only by licensed estheticians or physicians who have had additional training and certifications.
What to Expect~~
~~Will you be red? Yep. Depending on the agression of the peel (we have many to chose from), it may last a few minutes, a few hours or a few days. It is usually similar to that of when you are working out- a flushed look.
~~Will you peel? Probably, although not always. And peeling ranges from a dry, light flaking to a full on peel. It is similar to a peel after a sunburn.
~~What is ‘after care’ like? It’s important to use great products on your skin following a peel. We have a ‘post peel’ kit you can purchase that lasts about 45 days, or simply continue to use your own products. You must avoid sun exposure until you have finished peeling. You should wait at least 14 days before using Retinol products and doing any facial waxing.
~~How can I maximize benefit? Avoid alcohol and processed foods; avoid sweating (extreme exercise, hot yoga, etc); avoid spicy or acidic foods; avoid sun exposure. Great things to do instead: eat healthy food choices; wear sunblock; drink lots of water; use Sanitas professional products (post peel kits available). Afterwards: DO NOT pick or scratch the skin; don’t use glycolic or other acid exfoliation products as they will disrupt the healing process. Cleanse only with mild products for the first several days.
~~Are the results permament? The permanancy of the results is in direct proportion of how you care for your skin after a peel: professional products, avoiding sun exposure (use of sunblock) and so on. Maximum results are gained when done in a series of 3 or 6.
~~Can I benefit from just one? Absolutely. You will generally notice a significant improvement in a single treatment and all your moisturizers will work better with the deep exfoliation that you’ll experience from a chemical peel.
~~What kind of acids are used? We feature the Sanitas line of chemial peels, and the choices range from Lactic Acids, Glycolic Acids, Beta 17, TCA’s(10%) and Jesseners. Your esthetician will consult with you and do a skin analysis to determine which course of action will bring your desired results.
